Flexible Glass
This is the Holy Grail of the display industry: a thin, clear, flexible or conformable substrate with barrier properties equivalent to those of a sheet of glass. Using roll-to-roll processing, Vitex deposits the barrier coating directly onto a continuous roll of plastic base film, such as polyester, in order to make Flexible Glass plastic substrate. Display manufacturers can then use Flexible Glass from Vitex as the substrate for their flexible OLED displays. Final packaging can be achieved by in-situ Barix encapsulation. This composite structure of Flexible Glass substrate is made up of layers that are so thin that they're flexible enough to be rolled up and still retain their properties. The result is an economical, thin, flexible, unbreakable display that can be produced in virtually any shape or size. Not only is Flexible Glass the ideal substrate for the demanding requirements of OLED displays, but the barrier properties can be tailored, simply by varying the number of layers, to achieve precisely the barrier level needed, at the right cost, for other flexible electronic device applications.
